Kalaya School Project
COMPLETED PROJECT!
Some may ask us, why do you go and build kitchen cabinets? How is that evangelizing?
Here is the simple answer! KAMInternational is a missionary organization to the missionaries! We are on a mission to help bless, increase and care for needs physically and spiritually to those who are already on the frontlines of ministry and doing the work already in the places that God has sent them!
Paul spoke this to the Church at Philippi in Chapter 1:7 when he was thanking the people for coming alongside of him and helping him in his time of need! That is what we do!
Philippians 1:7 “It is right and appropriate for me to have this confidence and feel this way about you all, because you have me in your heart and I hold you in my heart as partakers and sharers, one and all with me, of grace (God's unmerited favor and spiritual blessing). [This is true] both when I am shut up in prison and when I am out in the defense and confirmation of the good news (the Gospel).”
Kalaya School is such a project. Kalaya Training Centre is located in Ssese Islands Kalangala district. The district is known for its beautiful white beaches, fishing, birds of many species and lush green forest. The district has a major problem it is one of the districts in Uganda with the highest rate of HIV/AIDS. The school drop-out rate for girls and teenage pregnancies is also very high.
Kalaya School is a vocational school for young women who are part of the poverty stricken society around them. Kalaya Training Center is a Christian School that believes in equipping those less fortunate by helping them to learn a trade of catering, tailoring and teaching and to build their skills of parenting and good health habits and hygiene.
We just completed new kitchen cabinets at Ssese Island in January. Our goal was twofold: 1) to create a modernized kitchen for schooling, learning and employment and 2) to generate income for Kalaya School.
As you can see, we accomplished our task with the team of Lynn Miles, Todd McLaughlin, Tom Sprunger, Dave Rowe and Steve and Darla Kruse. Thank you for your participation in this amazing endeavor!
Here are some of the beautiful items that the girls at Ssese make in their tailoring classes. For more information about purchasing these items, please check out Kingdom Connection International.
